David Canedo has ten years of experience in tax compliance and financial accounting, working with closely-held businesses with a focus on federal and multistate corporate income tax. David started his career working in audit at the Big Four, and his experience also includes in-house work for companies such as IBM and BMO Harris. David has been involved in the blockchain industry since 2017 and has dedicated numerous hours to educating himself on everything related to the industry, from the underlying technologies of blockchain databases to Bitcoin, Altcoins, Initial Coin Offerings and even DeFi. During his time at Wipfli, David has become the firm’s lead in digital assets tax compliance and is currently involved with the Chamber of Digital Commerce and CPA.com playing a key role in the growth of the industry.

Rusty Planert is a manager with Wipfli’s financial institutions group with over 10 years of public accounting experience. He is responsible for managing audit and tax services for investment partnerships, including hedge funds, cryptographic/digital asset funds, fund-of-funds and private equity funds. Rusty is passionate about working with start-up and emerging investment funds, guiding them through the audit, tax and regulatory requirements faced by the investment partnership industry. Through his experience in the industry, Rusty prides himself on being the resource clients can trust to handle their fund’s audit and tax needs.
