Ambassador Objectives
Educate members about the services and benefits of the Chamber
Generate prospects and convert them to new members via membership development activities
Foster new member engagement in Chamber programs, services, and events.
Ambassador Application Criteria
- You must be willing to commit to a minimum of one year of ambassadorship
- You or your company must be a member of the Oshkosh Chamber
- We accept one Ambassador per company at any given time
- Ambassador terms run from October 1 to September 30 of each year
- Applications will only be accepted from May 1 to July 31 of each year
Ambassador Responsibilities
- Call, visit and act as hosts to facilitate networking between members at monthly events
- Deliver Chamber information packets to new members
- Provide a reliable information base to help members with questions or concerns
- Educate and inform assigned members on Chamber public policy initiatives, programs and services
- Get members engaged in Chamber programs and events
- Sustain and enhance one of the Chamber’s most valuable volunteer programs
- Advise Chamber staff on issues affecting members
- Offer guidance on how the Oshkosh Chamber can assist members in optimizing their experience
- Encourage non-members to join the Oshkosh Chamber, and actively promote membership in the community
- Contact members as necessary to inform them about upcoming events
- Provide mentorship to new members through face-to-face interactions so they achieve success
- Align actions with the Oshkosh Chamber’s vision and mission

- Name badges identifying your role to be worn when representing the Oshkosh Chamber
- Representation on our Chamber website
- President leadership & Ambassador of the Year/Vice President role opportunity
- Potential visibility via communication vehicles such as social media, e-newsletters, and The BusinessNews newspaper
- Opportunities to make valuable business contacts and gain exposure to new businesses/business leaders
- Volunteer experience and credibility
- Use your shared experience as a Chamber member to “break the ice” with potential customers byhaving greater direct access to the membership
Ambassador Expectations
- Ambassadors represent the Oshkosh Chamber and should be Oshkosh Chamber members in good standing, as well as exhibit positive behavior on social media sites and in the community
- Identify prospects and recruit new members
- Contact prospective members and bring business cards or contact information to the OshkoshChamber Staff
- To respect the confidentiality of meeting discussions and documents.
- It is mandatory for every Ambassador to disclose any real or perceived conflicts of interest. If a situation arises that leads you to believe you have a conflict with any item, please inform theChair or staff liaison
- Foster involvement and mentor new members
- For networking and program events, attend and help with greeting, registration, guiding first timers, and building networking opportunities
- Maintain a MINIMUM of 35 points annually. Failure to maintain this number of points may result in dismissal from the Oshkosh Chamber Ambassador group.
Point System, Governance, and More
The Annual Points System is maintained and is crucial to Oshkosh Chamber Ambassador involvement and leadership. Points will be awarded as follows:
1 POINT
- Monthly Meeting-Attend
- Business After Hours-Attend
- OC Connection Breakfast-Attend
2 POINTS
- AM Oshkosh-Work or Attend
- Ribbon Cuttings
- Business After Hours- Work
- OC Connection Breakfast-Work
5 POINTS
- Oshkosh Chamber Program Annual Events-Work
- Signature Events-Work or Attend
- Sponsoring a new Ambassador
10 POINTS
- Referring a new business that becomes a NEW Oshkosh Chamber Member
- Points will be added starting on October 1st and ending on September 30th
- The Ambassadors with the top 3 highest point values will be sent to all Oshkosh Chamber Ambassadors for an anonymous vote. The winner of that vote will become the Ambassador of the year and vice-president. In the following year, when a new Ambassador of the year/vice president is elected, the former VP will move into the President spot for the next year.
- Back-to-back terms are not permitted
- 2 weeks will be allowed for voting unless all votes are turned in prior. The Ambassador of the Year/VP will be announced promptly after
- Leadership roles will be adjusted at the November meeting of each year (after voting).
