SENATOR RON JOHNSON RESPONSE

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published an op-ed by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) in response to various hit pieces printed by the outlet. The senator details how the mainstream media’s bias and social media censorship against conservatives endanger both freedom of speech and freedom of the press in this country.

It is sad, and a troubling reflection on the current state of mainstream media, that I find myself having to respond to yet another unwarranted hit piece by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and its Wisconsin affiliates. I write this response with no guarantee they will run it but with full assurance that, if they do, they will publish an accompanying smear in response.

Johnson,-Ron-Senator-portrait_w_name.jpg

The measure of their misrepresentations and distortions is so extensive that it is impossible to adequately respond in the space they allowed me in the last go-round. So I will make general observations here and present more complete rebuttals on my website.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

MSA THRESHOLD TO REMAIN AT 50,000

The Office of Management and Budget recently announced the maintenance of the 50,000 population threshold for Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) status.

The Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the members of our Congressional delegation, especially Congressman Grothman, and Senators Baldwin and Johnson, as well as the many community, business, and governmental leaders involved in this effort for their hard work, input, and communication to reach this decision. Without your work and the sharing of many voices, our MSA status in our communities would have been lost. The Oshkosh Chamber was one of a number of chambers in the U.S. to come together to change the trajectory on this proposal. This is a great example how communities everywhere in the country can come together to express their opinion on the importance of this and other issues to our communities.

The next MSA standards update is scheduled for 2030.
