Things look different at the top of an organization. The skills used while rising through the ranks or building the company are more about making sure the right things get done rather than doing them yourself; finding the answers becomes secondary to asking the right questions. For many small and medium companies, obtaining executive development can be a challenge. For the last seven years, the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Differentiating Strategies to bring a series of developmental briefings targeting top level leaders in small and medium businesses. We have selected leadership topics other leaders have mentioned as being relevant in the current landscape. These are presented in accessible, down to earth briefings that empower leaders to immediately begin using what they learned within their own businesses. Take the time away from working in the business and invest some of it in yourself!
Session Topic: Confrontation
What is confrontation like in your organization? Dysfunctional confrontation leads to alienation, isolation and polarization. Constructive confrontation draws teams together through timely decision making, critical thinking and a shared understanding.
When confronting is done right it decreases tension and fosters productivity. In this briefing participants will learn how to avoid some of the key ways confrontation goes wrong. We will learn how to confront in a way that resolves issues and promotes engagement. As a leader you will learn how to begin using confrontation in your culture to develop and maintain teams that perform at a high level.
Participants are encouraged to bring their questions and challenges. The briefings are structured to be stand-alone but do complement one another. Invite a dialog partner and hold each other accountable for applying what you learn.
