Dr. John Newman is board certified in general surgery and has over 25 years of experience in the field of medicine and surgery. Prior to joining Aurora, Dr. Newman spent nine years with Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk. Since joining Aurora in April 2015, his accomplishments include the Truven Top 100 Hospital and CMS 5 Star Hospital awards. Dr. Newman also had a distinguished military career of 17 years, including three tours of duty in Iraq. He received his Medical Degree from Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland, general surgery training at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, and the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida and a Cosmetic Fellowship.
